New Delhi [India], July 31 (ANI): Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Wednesday participated in a special discussion in the Rajya Sabha on ‘Operation Sindoor’, India’s response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
Replying to the discussion, Shah expressed condolences to the families of civilians killed in the attack and lauded the security forces for their swift and decisive action under Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev. He also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that he displayed the political will to deliver a strong response in line with the sentiments of 140 crore Indians.
Shah informed the House that under Operation Mahadev, conducted on July 28, three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, Suleman, Afghan, and Jibran, were neutralised by security forces in Kashmir. He said the operation confirmed Lashkar’s involvement in the Pahalgam attack and added that under Operation Sindoor, the masterminds of the attack were eliminated.
The Home Minister said the Indian security forces, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, delivered one of the most precise and prompt responses to terrorism ever seen globally. He said The Resistance Front (TRF), an affiliate of Lashkar, had claimed responsibility for the attack.
Union Home Minister told the House that three rifles were recovered from the three terrorists killed in Operation Mahadev – one 19 M-4 carbine and two AK-47s and added that after the Pahalgam attack, NIA had recovered empty cartridges from Baisaran valley, and those were examined in the Forensic Science Lab. When these terrorists were killed, the rifles recovered from them were tested, and after forensic matching, it was found with a hundred per cent certainty that these three rifles were used in the Pahalgam attack. It was also found that 44 of these cartridges were of 19 M-4 carbines, and 25 cartridges were of AK-47 rifles. Shah said that the NIA conducted a thorough investigation, taking statements from 1055 people, making sketches of the suspects, and arresting the three people who had given them shelter.
Amit Shah said that our agencies made continuous efforts from May 22 to July 22 to confirm the information about the presence of terrorists. Under the leadership of 4 Para of the Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police personnel together surrounded the terrorists, and in the operation conducted on 28 July, all three terrorists who killed our innocent citizens were eliminated, he added.
Targeting the opposition, Shah said a former Home Minister from the opposition is seeking proof that the terrorists came from Pakistan and accused the opposition of appeasement politics. He said the opposition questions the naming of operations without understanding their significance, adding that “Har Har Mahadev” was a historic war cry used by Shivaji Maharaj’s army.
Union Home Minister said that Prime Minister Modi had said in Bihar that whatever ground is left with the terrorists will be destroyed, and today their training camps, headquarters and launch pads have been razed to the ground. He said that the Prime Minister had said that the masters of the terrorists will not be spared, and today those who send the terrorists have also been exterminated by our forces.
Amit Shah noted that a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) was convened on 23 April and a strong message was sent to not only Pakistan but the entire world that there will be consequences for messing with India’s border, army, citizens and sovereignty. He said that in the CCS meeting, the 1960 Indus Water Treaty signed by Jawaharlal Nehru, which was unilaterally benefiting Pakistan, was suspended with immediate effect. He called the Indus Water Treaty one-sided, arguing that Indian farmers also have a right to the water. Now, within a short time, drinking water will be supplied to Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi from the Indus River. He said that after this, the Integrated Check Post running through Attari was closed, the SAARC visas of Pakistani citizens were suspended, and everyone was sent back to Pakistan. Their Defence, Military, and Navy advisors working in the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi were declared undesirable persons, and their number was reduced from 55 to 30. He said that in the CCS meeting, it was resolved that those who send terrorists and those who commit the act will be punished, and for this, the army was given a free hand in the CCS meeting.
Union Home Minister said that Prime Minister Modi gave ‘operational freedom’ to the armed forces on 30th April and that both the Defence Ministry and the Army will decide the target, method, place and time. He said that on 7th May at 1:04 am, 9 terrorist bases of Pakistan were destroyed in which at least 100 terrorists were killed and the Modi government and our forces accomplished the task of destroying the headquarters of Lashkar, Jaish and Hizbul.
Amit Shah said that due to the policies of the Modi Government, terrorism in Kashmir has reduced by 70% and is moving towards peace. He said that earlier terrorists did not come from outside, only Kashmiri youth used to pick up guns, now not a single Kashmiri youth joins terrorist organizations. He said that the abrogation of Article 370 has curbed separatism and terrorism in Kashmir.
Union Home Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, through “Aatmanirbhar Bharat”, export of our military equipment has increased. He said that the appeasement policies of the opposition had given rise to terrorism, and now, after the Pahalgam attack, India has destroyed the ecosystem of the terrorists. He added that stone pelting and strikes have come down to zero in Kashmir, and a new beginning of peace has been established. He said that the Modi government has banned the funerals of terrorists and has taken strict measures.
Amit Shah said that it is a great achievement of the Modi Government that the violence in North East and Naxalism has been reduced by 75%.
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation said that in Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army destroyed terrorist bases and training camps in Pakistan. He said that with 53 projects, an investment of Rs. 59,000 crores has been made in Kashmir, paving the way for new development. He accused the opposition party of nurturing terrorism. Shah said that attack, we carried out an airstrike, and after Pahalgam, we entered their territory and obliterated them.
Amit Shah said that in 2019, amendments were made to the UAPA, under which 57 people were declared terrorists. He mentioned that amendments were made to the NIA, granting it the authority to investigate outside the country. The NSA was strictly enforced, Article 370 was revoked, PFI was banned, MAC was strengthened, ICJS and NAFIS were established, terror financing was curbed through PMLA, and through NATGRID, terrorist organisations across the country were monitored with a click of a computer
Union Home Minister said that after the 2008 Mumbai terror attack, the Sharm el-Sheikh conference took place, known worldwide as the Balochistan Blunder, where it was proposed that both countries are victims of terrorism. He questioned whether anyone in the world could call Pakistan a victim of terrorism. He accused the opposition party of giving Pakistan a certificate. He said that until terrorism from Pakistan stops, there can be no talks.
Amit Shah said that PM Modi took the G20 to every state, showcasing our culture, capability, power, and democracy to the world. He said that no other country’s leader has received the highest civilian honours from 27 countries, as PM Modi has, and this honour belongs not just to the PM but to India’s Prime Minister and its 140 crore people. He said that Prime Minister Modi’s leadership is not emotional but sensitive, decisive, and resolute.
Union Home Minister said that today, we have risen from the 11th to the fourth largest economy, with our GDP reaching 4.19 trillion. A trillion-dollar digital economy has been created. Per capita income has increased from 68,572 rupees to 1,33,488 rupees. The national highway network has grown by 60 per cent, there are 159 operational airports, 136 Vande Bharat trains, and over 97 per cent of Indian Railways have been electrified. India is on the verge of becoming the largest mobile phone manufacturing country and has the third-largest start-up ecosystem. In the PM Modi government, 118 unicorns have been created, defence production has reached 1.27 lakh crore, and exports have reached 21,000 crores. Shah said that the Modi government’s greatest achievement is providing 60 crore people with homes, electricity, gas, toilets, drinking water, 5 kg of grains, and healthcare up to 5 lakh rupees.
Amit Shah added that when India’s freedom history is written in the centenary year of independence, this Modi era will be written in golden letters. He stated that numerous aspects of our pride, culture, and history had been kept pending by the opposition for 75 years. (ANI)
