Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], June 21 (ANI): In a bid to promote wellness and enhance work efficiency among employees, an organisation will be inaugurated to carry out special yoga camps within the premises of the Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh, said Haryana Chief Secretary TVSN Prasad on the occasion of International Yoga Day.
“Yoga not only improves physical health but also strengthens mental resilience, essential for professionals working long hours in office environments,” said T.V.S.N. Prasad while addressing the officers and employees at the Yoga Camp organised on the occasion of 10th International Yoga Day at Haryana Niwas here today.
Highlighting the significance of the yoga camp for the Civil Secretariat staff, Prasad urged all officers and employees to embrace yoga as a daily routine. He stressed that regular practice of yoga asanas and pranayama would not only boost their efficiency but also enhance their immunity.
Trained yoga instructors conducted various yoga asanas and pranayama exercises that were performed by all the attendees.
Prasad called upon all participants to take a pledge to incorporate yoga into their lives and encourage others for the same, aiming to propagate yoga in every household across the nation.
Earlier in the day, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini performed Yoga at a Yoga event in Hisar on the occasion of International Day of Yoga.
Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the celebrations of the 10th International Day of Yoga at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar today.
This year’s event underscores Yoga’s profound impact on young minds and bodies. The celebration aims to unite thousands in the practice of Yoga, promoting health and wellness on a global scale.
This year’s theme, “Yoga for Self and Society,” emphasises yoga’s vital role in fostering both individual well-being and societal harmony.
Since 2015, the Prime Minister has led the International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebrations at various iconic locations, including Kartavya Path in Delhi, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Ranchi, Lucknow, Mysuru and even the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
This year’s celebrations will span across the Nation, with a notable event termed “Yoga for Space”, wherein all the centres and units of ISRO will have programs on the practice of CYP or common Yoga Protocol. Globally, Embassies and Indian Missions abroad will join the celebrations, reflecting yoga’s widespread influence. (ANI)
