Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], October 28 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday inaugurated the ‘Vigilance Awareness Week and Training Camp 2024’, announcing plans to form a team of surveillance, technical, and financial experts to enhance the effectiveness of the Vigilance Department.
Speaking at an event organised by the Directorate of Vigilance Establishment under the theme ‘Prosperity of the Nation with the Culture of Integrity’ at Kargi Grant on Haridwar Bypass Road, the Chief Minister also honoured personnel associated with the Vigilance Establishment Uttarakhand (VEU).
“I am pleased that every year, on Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary, ‘Awareness Week’ is held to promote transparency and accountability in public administration. I hope you will work with full transparency and accountability to achieve the objectives of this week. This public awareness initiative will help people understand their rights and foster transparent, accountable governance. To instil a culture of integrity, it is essential for everyone to work with truth, honesty, ethics, and transparency,” said Dhami.
The Chief Minister also noted the importance of involving experts in this area, adding that, to make India a developed nation by 2047, rapid progress is being made across all fields.
“The country is prospering economically, socially, and morally. The e-governance initiatives led by Modi ji have promoted transparency in government operations. Demonetisation, GST, and the DBT system have been instrumental in eradicating corruption at its roots,” Dhami said.
He stated that the Uttarakhand government adheres to a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and has taken strict action against those found guilty. The administration is working to foster a culture of transparency to eliminate opportunities for corruption.
Director Vigilance V. Murugeshan reported that since the launch of the toll-free number ‘1064’ in 2022, nearly 7,800 complaints have been registered. Over the past three years, the vigilance department has conducted 66 sting operations and taken action against 75 individuals.
Earlier, the Chief Minister accompanied BJP candidate Asha Nautiyal as she filed her nomination for the Kedarnath assembly constituency, where a by-election is scheduled. Dhami mentioned that Nautiyal, having previously represented the constituency twice, is well aware of the region’s issues.
“I am confident that Asha Nautiyal, who has represented the Kedarnath constituency twice, will focus on the region’s development. We are all committed to fulfilling the dreams and promises of Shaila Rani Rawat,” he said. (ANI)
