Nizamabad (Telangana) [India], August 14 (ANI): Acting on credible information, vigilance officials from the Ramachandrapuram Unit seized Rs 2.50 lakh worth of illegally stored Public Distribution System (PDS) rice in Telangana’s Nizamabad district.
The illegal PDS rice was discovered during an inspection at Sri Raja Rajeswara Rice Mill on August 13. Officials seized approximately 180 quintals of PDS rice, valued at Rs 2.50 lakh.
Two individuals, Muda Ramya, the rice mill owner, and Abdul Kareem, an auto driver, have been identified as the primary suspects in this case.
“On credible information, the officials of Vigilance & Enforcement Ramachandrapuram Unit on 13.08.2024 at 19.00 hrs inspected Sri Raja Rajeswara Rice Mill, Gundaram(V), Nizamabad Rural(M) of Nizamabad District found one auto bearing No.TS 08 UJ 2171 with (30) Qtls of PDS rice. Further, approximately (150) qtls of PDS rice is illegally stored in the rice mill. The seized PDS rice is handed over to Deputy Tahsildar (Civil Supplies) for registering 6A case and criminal case against the accused duly seizing the auto. The total value of the seized PDS rice is 180 qtls approximately worth of Rs 250000,” as per a press release from the Regional Vigilance & Enforcement Officer, Ramachandrapuram.
