Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], November 2 (ANI): BJP MP Tejasvi Surya on Saturday criticised the Siddaramaiah-led government for creating a state with a revenue deficit and pursuing a “mindless, irresponsible, populist economy model.”
“…Ever since Congress party came to power in Karnataka, the economic policy of the Congress government has taken Karnataka out of a revenue surplus state…Today Karnataka is now a revenue deficit state under Siddaramaiah and his mindless, irresponsible, populist economy model… The Congress model has not only reduced the budget funds allocated for development but has also increased taxes and made life more difficult for the common man in the state…” he said.
“The Congress party’s economic model of promising the moon before elections and delivering nothing after coming to power is being repeated again and again in state after state… In Himachal Pradesh, the Congress government is unable to even provide funds for guarantees… There are three characteristics of the Congress model of governance today. Minority appeasement, irresponsible economy policy… blatant corruption which has been exposed by the Prime Minister today,” he added.
The reaction comes after Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah tweeted criticising the BJP’s achievements under PM Modi’s leadership, pointing out that India’s debt is projected to reach Rs 185.27 trillion by FY25, a staggering 56.8 per cent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). He also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of leaving the state with a legacy of corruption and debt.
In a post on X, Siddaramaiah claimed that the Congress government has fulfilled all five guarantees made to the people, allocating over Rs 52,000 crore and an additional Rs 52,903 crore for capital outlay to build Karnataka’s future.
“@narendramodi, before pointing fingers at Congress, take a hard look at @BJP4Karnataka’s disastrous legacy in Karnataka! We are fulfilling every promise we made to our people all five guarantees implemented with a budget exceeding Rs52,000 crore, and an additional Rs52,903 crore in capital outlay to build Karnataka’s future,” he said.
