Udaipur (Rajasthan) [India], June 6 (ANI): Despite scorching heat in May, Udaipur witnessed the highest tourist footfall. According to the Tourism Department, one lakh tourists visited the ‘City of Lakes’ in May this year so far.
Udaipur Deputy Director of Tourism Department, Shikha Saxena said, “In May, one lakh tourists, including foreign tourists visited the lake city. If tourists are coming in record numbers during summer then it is a result that Udaipur is now recognized at the global level. Udaipur is considered as the coolest destination in Rajasthan for a wedding destination.”
“We are expecting that this number will increase in the coming days during the monsoon season. We are receiving hotel enquiries and even in some hotels bookings are done already. During summers, the Hotel industry has organized indoor activities for tourists due to which they remain in hotels during peak hours. During morning and evening hours, tourists prefer to go for a forest tour in eco trains and lakes,” she further said.
Elaborating on the steps to increase tourists in the coming days, Saxena said, “We have to plan more events to increase the number further. We have to take steps to preserve forests and the environment and everyone has to contribute to it.”
The maximum temperature in most parts of Rajasthan was recorded above 40 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season’s normal with Bikaner recording the maximum temperature at 42.2 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department.
Kota and Churu recorded the maximum temperature at 42 degrees Celsius each, followed by Jodhpur at 40.4, 40 degrees Celsius in Jaipur, 39.8 degrees Celsius in Jaisalmer, 38 degrees Celsius in Udaipur and 37.4 degrees Celsius in Sri-Ganganagar.
