New Delhi [India], October 18 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders meeting in Chandigarh on Thursday, marking a significant gathering of non-Congress political parties since 1975.
A total of 17 Chief Ministers and 18 Deputy Chief Ministers participated in the conclave and PM Modi suggested holding such meetings twice a year.
During the meeting, PM Modi discussed the NDA’s recent electoral victory in Haryana, stating that the coalition has garnered the trust of various societal segments and said that the opposition’s narratives of the NDA being anti-farmer were bogus, noting that farmers actively supported the NDA in large numbers.
He further thanked the people of Haryana for their endorsement of the NDA’s governance approach, and he also emphasised the NDA government’s commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of citizens, focusing on last-mile delivery of services since 2014.
“Calling the victory in Haryana as significant and historic, Shri Narendra Modi ji said that NDA has secured the trust and support of all sections of society. He also highlighted how the opposition tried to portray false narratives of the NDA being anti-farmer, whereas it was the farmers who came out in large numbers to bless the NDA! He thanked the people of Haryana for rejecting the negative politics of the opposition and giving them a clear message that they stand with progress and the good governance agenda of the NDA,” an official release stated.
He characterised good governance as solving people’s problems, highlighting the emphasis on grievance redressal across NDA state governments and stated that in comparison to the previous UPA government, there was a substantial increase in citizen correspondence, with the NDA government receiving 4.5 crore letters in the last decade versus 5 lakh during the UPA’s tenure, illustrating public trust in the current coalition.
“While comparing with the UPA government, Prime Minister said that he has received 4.5 crore letters in the last 10 years as compared to 5 lakh letters in 10 years of the UPA government, which reflects the trust of people in the NDA government,” the release stated.
“Smooth governance, fast decision making and transparency in governance helped in attracting investors and investment in NDA states,” PM Modi said.
During the meeting, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh proposed a resolution to celebrate 75 years of the Indian Constitution as “Samvidhan ka Amrut Mahotsav,” while Union Home Minister Amit Shah suggested observing 2025 as the 50th anniversary of the “attempt to murder democracy.”
The meeting also included discussions on celebrating the 150th birth anniversaries of historical figures and the birth centenary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2025. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also initiated a discussion on the Aatmanirbhar Bharat concept, advocating for state collaboration to enhance the economy.
PM Modi further introduced the concept of pro-people proactive good governance or “P2G2,” and urged greater interaction among NDA states through social media, emphasised public participation in governance and acknowledged the NDA’s direct engagement with the youth.
“Modi elaborated on the concept of pro-people, pro-active good governance or P2G2. He emphasised the need for greater interaction between all NDA states, as well as Ministers and MLAs from these states, and to connect with each other through social media,” the release stated.
The Prime Minister called on leaders to work together towards initiatives such as TB Mukt Bharat, natural farming, waste management, and boosting tourism, and proposed competitions among cities in NDA-ruled states for the cleanest tourist destinations and hospitals, encouraging a collaborative effort towards welfare and development.
