Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 1 (ANI): Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday announced that it will initiate a computerised single window permission system for Mandals participating in the Ganeshotsav.
Furthermore, BMC had said that it would give a permit of 5 years to all the Mandals, but they have to obtain a fresh No-Objection-Certificate (NOC) each year from the local police and traffic department.
The fee for obtaining permission will be just Rs 100.
The criteria for issuance of a permit will be that a Mandal must be 10 years old, haven’t violated any rules and have no police complaints registered against them.
Keeping in mind the growing global warming and changing climate, BMC had urged all the Mandals to adhere to “eco-friendly” Ganeshotsav norms this year.
This year, Ganeshotsav, also known as Ganesh Chaturthi, is on September 19.
The festival is marked with the installation of Ganesha’s clay murtis (devotional representations of a deity) privately in homes and publicly on elaborate pandals (temporary stages) and is enthusiastically celebrated in Maharashtra.
Ganesh Chaturthi, in Hinduism, is a 10-day festival marking the birth of the elephant-headed deity Ganesha, the god of prosperity and wisdom. It begins on the fourth day (Chaturthi) of the month of Bhadrapada (August-September), the sixth month of the Hindu calendar. (ANI)
