“Maharajganj records highest voter turnout till 5 pm in last phase of LS polls”: UP CEO – World News Network

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 1 (ANI): On the seventh and final phase of Lok Sabha elections on June 1, Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa informed about voter turnout in the 13 constituencies that went to the polls and said that Maharajganj recorded highest voter turnout at 58.66 per cent at 5:00 pm.
Addressing a press conference, Rinwa said, “Today, the polling on the remaining 13 Lok Sabha seats concluded in the seventh phase. The average voter turnout on these 13 seats is 54 per cent till 5:00 pm…”
Providing details about the voter turnout at different places, he informed, “… Till 5:00 pm, Maharajganj recorded 58.66 per cent, Gorakhpur (52.53 per cent), Kushinagar (56. 04 per cent), Deoria (54.13 per cent), Bansgaon (50.06 per cent), Ghosi (53.19 per cent), Salempur (50.21 per cent), Balia (50.56 per cent), Ghazipur (53.53 per cent), Chandauli (58.19 per cent), Varanasi (54.58 per cent), Mirzapur (55.83 per cent), and Robertsganj (54.25 per cent).
Till 5:00 pm, Uttar Pradesh recorded the voter turnout at 54 per cent.
The polling of the last phase started on Saturday at 7 am in the 57 parliamentary constituencies spread across seven states and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. According to the Election Commission of India, over 10.06 crore electors including approximately 5.24 crore male, 4.82 crore female and 3574 third-gender electors expected to exercise their franchise.
The Election Commission has issued a ban on exit polls from 7 am on April 19 to 6:30 pm on June 1, till the conclusion of polling. The high-voltage campaigning for the final phase of Lok Sabha polls ended on Thursday.
During the long campaign for seven-phased Lok Sabha polls, PM Modi held more than 200 campaign events, which included rallies and roadshows, in 75 days. He also gave several interviews. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi held more than 100 rallies and public interaction programs like Nyay Sammelans and Nyay Manch’ in Lok Sabha Polls. (ANI)
