New Delhi [India], September 11 (ANI): A complaint was filed with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, NIA Director General and Delhi Police Commissioner against Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi by Vineet Jindal, a practising lawyer at the Supreme Court, following his remarks made during his US visit on “Sikhs” on September 9.
This comes amid a row created by Rahul Gandhi’s remarks in the United States, where he said that today the fight in India is whether a Sikh person will be able to wear his turban, kada, and visit Gurdwara.
“Member of Parliament and Lok Sabha Leader of Parliament Rahul Gandhi is on the visit to US and he is continuously making anti-India statements. Rahul Gandhi in one of his statements mentioned about Sikhs and said that ‘today the fight in India is whether a Sikh person will be able to wear his turban, kada, and visit Gurdwara.’ Some or the other way Rahul Gandhi tried to instigate the Sikhs. The statement of Rahul Gandhi is not right and there no incidents reported where any Sikh is being stopped to visit Gurdwara or to wear the turbans but Rahul Gandhi for it political benifit he is trying instigate the minorities. Earlier also we have witnessed that how Rahul Gandhi defames his own country instead of attacking the central government,” Jindal said in a self-made video on Wednesday.
He further said that he had filed a formal complaint against Rahul Gandhi, who is currently on a tour in the USA.
“I have complained to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, NIA and Delhi Police of Commissioner. In which I have urged all them to register the case for making false and insightful statements. I have also urged to cancel Rahul Gandhi’s passport. I belive that soon the action will be taken on my complain,” he added.
In a letter written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Director General NIA, Sadanand Date and Delhi Police Commission Sanjay Arora.
“I am writing to file a formal complaint against Rahul Gandhi, who is currently on a tour in the USA. On September 9, 2024, during an event organised by the Indian Overseas Congress, where he interacted with the public, Mr. Gandhi made a statement that I believe constitutes hate speech with the intent to incite division and hatred within communities for his political gain,” he stated in the letter.
He further said that the statement is “highly inflammatory” and is an intentional act to incite hatred among Sikhs against the Indian government and the nation.
“Given Mr. Gandhi’s position as the leader of the opposition in Parliament, his remarks could significantly impact internal security and foster communal discord. The impact of the concocted statement is exacerbated by the fact that the banned Khalistani terrorist organisation “Sikh for Justice’ has supported Mr. Gandhi’s statement, which they may use to incite hate within the Sikh community. The support from terrorist organisations and anti-India individuals suggests a larger conspiracy behind Mr. Gandhi’s comments,” he added.
He further said that Rahul Gandhi’s statement remarks appear to be strategically aimed at generating animosity towards India and may also be perceived as support for Khalistani extremists.
“Such a rhetoric statement is dangerous as it would create communal hostility and could jeopardise national security. According to directions from the Hon’ble Supreme Court, police are mandated to take action on instances of hate speech without requiring a formal complaint. However, as no action appears to have been taken regarding Mr. Gandhi’s statements, I am compelled to file this complaint,” he stated.
Jindal further requested to file an FIR against Rahul Gandhi under Sections 152. 196, 299, and 353 of the BNS for his statements.
“I request that an FIR be lodged against Rahul Gandhi under Sections 152. 196, 299, and 353 of the BNS for his statements with the intent to provoke communal hatred and disrupt the Indian government, also request that his passport be revoked and that any future foreign visits be banned, as these actions appear to occur during his overseas trips. I need your attention into to this serious matter,” he said.
The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP from Raebareli, Rahul Gandhi, during his interaction with the Indian diaspora in US said that the fight is about whether a Sikh, is going to be allowed to wear a turban in India and would be able to visit a Gurdwara.
“First of all, you have to understand what the fight is about. Fight is not about politics. It is superficial. What is your name? The fight is about whether he, as a Sikh, is going to be allowed to wear his turban in India. Or he as a Sikh is going to be allowed to wear a kada in India. Or a Sikh is going to be able to go to Gurdwara. That’s what the fight is about and not just for him, for all religions,” he said. (ANI)
