Haveri (Karnataka) [India], October 28 (ANI): Senior BJP leader and former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday accused the Congress government of disrupting harmony among communities after coming to power in the state.
He said this while campaigning in favour of the BJP candidate from Shiggaon assembly bypoll and his son Bharath Bommai in Hurulikuppe village of Haveri district.
Basavaraj Bommai said he has had a connection with Hurulikuppe village since his time as a Member of the Legislative Council.
Former CM alleged, “Since the Congress government came to power, harmony between communities has been disrupted, and governance is being conducted through police stations. Over the past fifteen years, there were no communal conflicts in this constituency and resolved village issues within the village itself.”
He urged people to support Bharat Bommai to maintain communal harmony in the Shiggaon constituency.
He reminded the people of the privilege they had given him to serve as the Chief Minister by electing from this constituency. As CM, he introduced the Vidyanidhi scheme for the children of farmers.
“The population is increasing, but the land remains the same. Therefore, the Vidyanidhi scheme was launched to help farmers’ children pursue higher education and find alternative employment opportunities,” said Basavaraj Bommai.
Bommai also mentioned that during floods, double the compensation was provided under his administration, but the current government is not providing adequate drought and flood relief. But the present government was not working in the people’s favour.
The Haveri MP said the party leaders have given a ticket to Bharat Bommai, and to continue the development of the constituency, he appealed to the people to elect Bharat Bommai. (ANI)
