New Delhi [India], October 7 (ANI): After several exit polls projected a possible Congress comeback in Haryana after a decade, party MP Deepender Singh Hooda on Monday thanked the voters for turning out in large numbers.
Expressing confidence in winning the Haryana Assembly elections, Hooda said, “We are confident that the Congress government will be formed in Haryana. I thank the voters of Haryana for voting in large numbers. Tomorrow, the results of the Haryana Assembly elections will be in favour of the Congress party.”
While addressing a press conference, he added that party workers have put in tremendous effort over the last five to ten years.
“The Congress workers in Haryana have worked very hard. For the last 5 to 10 years, all the workers and leaders of Congress have been dedicated in their efforts. In the Haryana Lok Sabha polls, we secured 47.6 per cent of the votes, which was a significant achievement for the party’s workers,” Hooda said.
Speaking to ANI, the Congress leader stated that the Haryana election result will have implications for national politics.
“It will have an impact on the politics of the entire country. Congress is going to win in Haryana with a huge majority, and this will send a message across the nation. Bhupinder Hooda has worked tirelessly, and everyone has contributed to the elections. I want to thank our central leadership and Rahul Gandhi. After the Bharat Jodo Yatra, an environment for Congress was created. This is a loss for the BJP,” he said.
Earlier, party leader and MP Gaurav Gogoi took a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stating that their “double-engine government” was never effective, always working against the people and in favour of big industrialists.
Commenting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s influence in Vidhan Sabha elections, Gogoi said that PM Modi is no longer a decisive factor in these elections. He also pointed out that PM Modi’s economic policies have exacerbated issues like unemployment and inflation across the country.
“Firstly, PM Modi is no longer a factor in Vidhan Sabha elections. There was a time when he would campaign even for Delhi MCD elections. But today, he has become a liability. Due to his economic policies, unemployment and inflation have risen everywhere. This isn’t just evident in one Vidhan Sabha election or in North India alone; PM Modi is not a factor anymore in Vidhan Sabha elections across India,” Gogoi said.
This comes after exit polls predicted a sweeping victory for Congress in Haryana, with some polls forecasting the party winning more than 50 of the 90 assembly seats.
The TV-Today C-Voter projection suggested the party may win 50-58 seats in the state, while the BJP is expected to secure 20-28 seats, with others possibly winning 10-16 seats.
The majority mark to form the government in the 90-member assembly is 46.
According to the Republic TV-Matrize poll, Congress may win 55-62 seats out of 90, while the BJP is poised to take 18-24 seats.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday expressed confidence that his party could form the government “alone,” stating that they have “all the arrangements” in place.
The single-phase polling for 90 Assembly Constituencies in Haryana concluded peacefully on Saturday across more than 20,000 polling stations, with a final voter turnout of 65.65 per cent. (ANI)
