Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], August 4 (ANI): The Himachal Pradesh Assembly marked the 118th birth anniversary of Yashwant Singh Parmar, the state’s first Chief Minister and a pivotal figure in its formation.
The Assembly paid tribute to Dr. Parmar, celebrating his legacy and contributions to the development of Himachal Pradesh.
Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania recalled his instrumental role in the state’s journey to statehood alongside Indira Gandhi.
“Dr. Parmar’s vision and dedication have been foundational to Himachal’s progress. His efforts in resource mobilization and growth have shaped the state into a model of development for other hill regions,” Pathania stated.
The Assembly held a tribute prayer ceremony to honour Dr. Parmar’s memory, highlighting his varied roles as an administrator, judicial officer, social worker, and politician.
A book detailing his contributions was also launched during the event. “Dr. Parmar’s legacy is reflected in the ongoing development of Himachal Pradesh. The mandate given to our current leadership is to build upon his vision,” Pathania added.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu spoke about the government’s commitment to Dr. Parmar’s vision, despite the financial and natural calamities the state has faced.
“Our government is implementing policy changes in the hydro, tourism, and fruit processing sectors. By 2032, we aim to make Himachal Pradesh self-reliant and strong, continuing Dr. Parmar’s legacy of development,” Sukhu said.
He acknowledged the challenges posed by recent disasters but assured that the government is working diligently to address the needs of affected individuals.
“Despite financial constraints and natural disasters, we are making strong decisions and working swiftly to ensure comprehensive development and recovery,” Sukhu said. (ANI)
