Kishtwar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], July 19 (ANI): The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh on Friday spoke on the increasing terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir and emphasized that the government has taken stringent measures in response to these incidents and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is personally reviewing the situation.
Speaking with the reporters, he said, “The government has taken major action on such incidents in the recent past. The Prime Minister himself is reviewing it. Continuously, some new strategies have been made by our Army and military forces which cannot be explained publicly.”
Emphasising on the establishment of BDGs, he added, “The question of how to revive BDGs is being seriously discussed. It will not only be revived but in the coming times, BDGs will also be established wherever there is a need. Their weapons will also be modernised…”
Meanwhile, earlier in the day, the people paid their last respects to the mortal remains of Captain Brijesh Thapa, who lost his life in the Doda encounter, at his native place, Lebong, Darjeeling, on Friday.
Four Indian Army soldiers, including Captain Brijesh Thapa, were killed in action during an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Tuesday.
On July 15, based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation by the Indian Army and JK Police was in progress in an area North of Doda. According to the White Knight Corps, contact with terrorists was established at about 9 pm during which a heavy firefight ensued. 4 soldiers, including an officer, were killed in action.
On July 16, LtGen MV Suchindra Kumar, Northern Army Commander, laid a wreath to pay homage to the bravehearts Captain Brijesh Thapa, Naik D Rajesh, Sepoy Bijendra, and Sepoy Ajay Kumar Singh, who laid down their lives in the line of duty to ensure peace in the region while undertaking a counter-terrorist operation in Doda.
