New Delhi (India), August 2 (ANI): Delhi University (DU) on Friday urged candidates who have appeared in exams from multiple boards to upload all their Class 12 grade mark sheets during counselling for undergraduate programmes.
Speaking to ANI, DU Dean of Admissions Haneet Gandhi explained that while only one marksheet will be used to determine minimum eligibility, others may be considered for program-specific criteria.
“Students who have taken exams from two boards can upload both mark sheets on CSAS portal. Only one will be used to determine minimum eligibility, but the other can be considered for program-specific eligibility,” Gandhi stated.
Admission to all UG Programmes of UoD is being done through the CSAS portal on the basis of the Common University Entrance Test–Under-Graduate 2024 (CUET (UG)–2024.
This directive was also communicated during a webinar hosted by the university to clarify the admission process.
Several students appear for exams through multiple boards, such as CBSE and the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). According to the Dean of Admissions, marks from one board will be used to determine minimum eligibility.
“For example, if a science student has taken an Economics exam through NIOS, that mark sheet can be used to meet subject-specific eligibility requirements. This would allow the student to qualify for admission into an Economics Honours programme, which might otherwise not have been possible,” Gandhi explained.
During the webinar, candidates inquired about handling multiple board results. In response, Gandhi advised students to scan and upload all relevant mark sheets. Dr. Anand Sonkar, Joint Dean of Admissions, added that candidates should enter the details of the mark sheet with the most subjects and upload both.
Delhi University has commenced the second phase of its admissions under the Common Seat Allocation System (Undergraduate), following the declaration of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) results on Sunday. Over 2.7 lakh candidates registered in the first phase. According to an official statement, both phases will remain open until 4:59 pm on August 7, with preferences auto-locking at 5 pm on August 9.
“In Phase II, candidates will need to align their Class XII subjects with the ones they appeared for in CUET 2023. Only the CUET papers in which they passed their Class XII board exams will be considered,” the statement elaborated. Simulated ranks, based on scores and preferences, will be released at 5 pm on August 11, allowing students to adjust their choices until August 12.
The new academic session, initially scheduled to start on August 1, was delayed due to the late release of CUET results amid controversy surrounding NEET and UGC-NET. This year, DU has introduced a single girl child quota under its supernumerary category, admitting one girl based on merit across programmes.
Admission to all programs is determined by CUET scores, with approximately 71,000 seats available for 79 undergraduate programs and 183 BA program combinations in 69 colleges. (ANI)
