New Delhi [India], September 18 (ANI): Union Minister of Women and Child Development (WCD) Annapurna Devi highlighted the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third term over the past 100 days, emphasising how the BJP-led central government has been empowering women, nurturing children, and creating pathways to achieve the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
Addressing the media in Ranchi, Jharkhand, the Minister of Women and Child Development outlined the significant milestones achieved by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) from June to August 2024, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of a women-led development agenda for a developed India.
According to an official release from the Ministry, efforts continue to focus on empowering women, ensuring child welfare, and creating opportunities through strategic initiatives and innovative programmes.
One of the key achievements highlighted in the release was the launch of the SHe-Box on 29 August 2024. This IT platform facilitates the process of filing and tracking complaints of sexual harassment at the workplace, representing a major step towards creating safer work environments across the country.
In line with its mission to improve early childhood care and education, the Ministry is working towards establishing Anganwadi-cum-Creche Centres nationwide by 2029, a move set to benefit millions of families. These centres will offer comprehensive childcare and educational services, significantly bolstering child development while increasing women’s participation in the workforce.
Furthermore, the Ministry aims to upgrade 10,000 Saksham Anganwadis, introduce a two-factor authentication system to track the delivery of Take-Home Rations, and enhance nutrition outcomes across India.
As part of these efforts, the 7th Rashtriya Poshan Maah was launched on 1 September 2024, focusing on raising awareness about anaemia among women and adolescent girls, and promoting better understanding of supplementary nutrition, growth, development, and early childhood education.
Reflecting on the Ministry’s progress during the media interaction, WCD Minister Annapurna Devi stated that these accomplishments underscore the government’s commitment to a future where women play a leading role in shaping India’s growth.
“With every initiative, we are empowering women, nurturing children, and creating pathways that align with the Prime Minister’s vision of a Viksit Bharat. We remain dedicated to ensuring that every woman and child in India has the opportunity to thrive,” she said.
She further added, “The Ministry is also focused on improving women’s mobility and economic independence through the establishment of new Working Women Hostels, skill development schemes targeting young girls, and other initiatives aimed at empowering women.”
