Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], July 12 (ANI): Additional Director General (ADG) of Border Security Force (Eastern Command) Ravi Gandhi arrived at Frontier headquarter in Tripura on his two-day visit from July 12 to 13. The ADG reviewed the current security scenario and discussed various operational aspects of border management including the steps being taken to prevent the illegal migration of Bangladesh nationals.
The ADG was welcomed by Inspector-General (IG) BSF Tripura, Patel Piyush Purusottam Das and other senior officers followed by a guard of honour. IG BSF Tripura briefed the ADG about the general security scenario along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
The IG briefed ADG about the challenges being faced by troops on the ground along the international border and measures taken to counter the challenge of illegal migrants.
The ADG also had a courtesy meeting with Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha and Tripura Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan. During the high-level meeting, ADG BSF discussed the prevailing security scenario. He also apprised the various measures being taken by BSF, especially tech solutions for border domination and action being taken to counter the illegal migration of Bangladesh nationals.
The ADG (Eastern command) further had a detailed interaction with Officers and discussed the issues being faced at the ground level. The ADG (Eastern command) BSF along with the IG Tripura Frontier will also be visiting the border areas to take stock of the situation and will meet field commanders during the visit.
Earlier on Thursday in a significant operation based on confidential information, the Government Railway Police (GRP) detained seven Bangladeshi nationals at Agartala Railway Station. The group, consisting of four women and three men, had reportedly entered India through illegal means and were planning to travel to various destinations across the country by train. (ANI)
