New Delhi [India], June 9 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party leaders Sarbananada Sonowal, Jitin Prasada, Shripad Naik and Arjun Ram Meghwal along with Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Jayant Chaudhary took oath as Union Ministers in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third cabinet.
Jayant Chaudhary, the Rashtriya Lok Dal chief was sworn-in as Union Minister. The Rajya Sabha MP is the grandson of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh.
RLD contested the Lok Sabha polls in alliance with BJP in Uttar Pradesh and won two seats.
Arjun Ram Meghwal served as Union Minister of Law and Justice in the NDA government’s second tenure. He also held other portfolios as Minister of State.
He won the Bikaner constituency in Lok Sabha polls by over 55,000 votes this time.
Former Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal took oath as Union Minister in NDA cabinet on Sunday.
Sonowal, served as Assam CM from 2016 to 2021, after being succeeded by Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Following that, he served as Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways as well as Cabinet Minister of AYUSH.
BJP leader Jitin Prasada took oath as Union Minister on Sunday. He has served as Minister of State in previous NDA governments.
He won the Pilbhit Lok Sabha constituency by over 1.5 lakh votes.
Shripad Naik served as Union Minister of State in previous NDA governments. Naik won the North Goa constituency in Lok Sabha polls by over 1.1 lakh votes.
Earlier, Narendra Modi took oath as Prime Minister of India for his third successive term on Sunday at an impressive ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Several other ministers were also sworn in PM Modi’s cabinet.
President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to Narendra Modi, followed by other members of his team of ministers.
PM Modi was seen wearing a full-sleeved white kurta with churidar and blue half jacket.
The Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA secured 293 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. BJP won 240 seats on its own. In the 543-strong lower house of the Indian parliament, 272 is the minimum majority figure.
Notably, PM Modi is the second Indian leader to win a third term after founding prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru. (ANI)
