Bikaner (Rajasthan) [India], April 20 (ANI): Union Minister and the BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from Bikaner, Arjun Ram Meghwal, said on Friday that his party was poised to win the constituency by a significant margin.
Bikaner was one of 12 Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan and 102 across the country that went to polls in the opening phase of the general elections on Friday.
Speaking to ANI on Friday, Meghwal said, “The polling today went off peacefully. For this, I wish to thank our workers, officials in the local administration, and the police, among other authorities concerned. The polling numbers are going to be out soon. However, from the trends that I have been able to gather, the BJP is set to win Bikaner by a huge margin.”
The 12 Rajasthan seats recorded 50.27 per cent polling till 5 pm, according to data shared by the Election Commission (EC) on Friday.
Voting for India’s parliamentary election, the largest democratic exercise in the world, began at 7 am with the Election Commission urging people to exercise their franchise in maximum numbers.
While polling for 12 Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan in the first phase concluded on Friday, the remaining 13 seats in the state will poll in the second phase on April 26.
In 2019, BJP registered a near-sweep in the state, winning 24 of the 25 seats, while the lone other seat was won by Rashtriya Loktrantrik Party candidate Hanuman Beniwal. (ANI)
