New Delhi [India], July 24 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met with Union Minister of Power Manohar Lal Khattar here in the national capital on Wednesday to discuss Assam’s energy security and ensure all-round power availability for the state.
Energy security is defined as the uninterrupted availability of energy sources at an affordable price.
“I had the opportunity to have a great meeting with Hon’ble Union Minister Shri @mlkhattar ji today. We had a detailed deliberation to augment Assam’s energy security, including ensuring all-round power availability for the State. To this effect, we have secured unstinted support from the Government of India,” Sarma said in a post on X.

“A road map to introduce various reforms in the power sector was discussed, which, once implemented, will benefit consumers, distributors, and producers,” he added.
The Chief Minister mentioned that he and the minister had a productive discussion on how to develop and maintain wetlands in urban areas of the state in an environmentally beneficial manner.
CM Sarma noted that the Union Minister was very supportive of the Assam government’s efforts to establish a satellite township near Guwahati.
“To help meet the housing needs of Urban Assam, we also discussed ways to improve the efficacy of PMAY (U) and leverage the announcements made in the #UnionBudget2024,” he added.
During his visit to Delhi, CM Sarma also met Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav and discussed measures for strengthening Assam’s environment and leveraging new central schemes for climate change mitigation.
