New Delhi [India], April 12 (ANI): Three Bangladeshi nationals, including a woman, residing “illegally” in Delhi were apprehended by a team of special staff, Rohini, and were sent to the deportation centre after completing all “codal” formalities, police said.
According to Delhi police, the three were apprehended based on secret information and human intelligence. The police team succeeded in identifying three Bangladeshi nationals residing in the national capital without valid Indian documents and apprehended them after verifying all the relevant documents.
The three apprehended include Mahbub Alam (50), a resident of Sylhet, Bangladesh. He entered India on April 5, 2025, for an appointment at the Portugal Embassy regarding a work permit. Although his visa expired on April 8, he remained in India illegally.
The second individual, Mohd. Kamal (51), originally from Madaripur, Bangladesh, had been previously deported in 2012. He reportedly re-entered India by crossing the border after three to four years and reached Delhi via Howrah. He had an Aadhaar card in his possession.
The third apprehended individual, Aklima Bibi (35), a resident of JJ Colony, Bawana, was earlier deported in 2007. However, she didn’t cross the border after her release and returned to Delhi, where she had been doing odd jobs.
The police are making further efforts to identify more illegal migrants under a special drive being carried out to trace the illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.
Earlier, the South West district of Delhi Police apprehended a Bangladeshi national residing illegally in the city and facilitated his deportation to Bangladesh through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) statement.
The individual, identified as Md Sadikur Rahman, a 25-year-old resident of Masukhali Chhatak, Sunamganj, Bangladesh, was found overstaying in India after the expiry of his visa. A special drive is being conducted by the authorities to identify, detain, and repatriate individuals residing unlawfully in the area.
On March 30, the Delhi Police arrested two Bangladeshi nationals, Atifa and Asma, both 24, who had allegedly been living in India illegally for years. They were found to be residing in the national capital without valid documents or permits.
According to the police, the two individuals had entered India illegally via river routes near the India-Bangladesh border. They traveled to Delhi via local trains and had been staying in various locations to evade detection. (ANI)
