New Delhi [India], March 28 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Aparajita Sarangi on Thursday praised the Union Home Ministry for introducing the Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025, calling it a “much-needed” piece of legislation to safeguard India’s national security by preventing the entry of infiltrators in the country.
“The country needed this bill very much. I thank the Home Ministry… Strict action will be taken against those who do not follow the rules… This bill has been brought to stop Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators from coming to India,” Sarangi told ANI.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, during the debate on the bill in the Lok Sabha, Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasised that the Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025, was necessary to strengthen the nation’s internal security.
Shah also reiterated the government’s position on immigration, stating that India is not a ‘Dharamshala’ and that those who pose a threat to national security will not be allowed to enter the country.
“Those who pose a threat to the national security will not be allowed to enter the nation. The nation is not a ‘Dharamshala'(rest house)…If someone comes to the nation to give its contribution to the development of the nation, they are always welcome,” he said.
Meanwhile, while speaking to ANI, BJP MP Brij Lal spoke on the Immigration and Foreginers Bill and also criticised the TMC government for allegedly issuing official documents and treating illegal immigrants as part of a vote bank. He emphasised that the bill would protect India’s integrity.
“The situation in West Bengal is very bad. Illegally people are entering India through West Bengal. People living along the border have informed us that the TMC government issued Aadhar cards to Bangladeshis, and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has made them part of her vote bank… The bill protects the integrity of the nation,” Lal told ANI.
Furthermore, the Home Minister slammed the Trinamool Congress, saying Bangladeshi infiltrators or Rohingyas enter India through West Bengal and fencing work of 450 km is pending because the state government is not giving land for it.
He alleged that Aadhar cards are issued to illegal migrants from Bangladesh in a district of West Bengal, and they then travel to other parts of the country.
Amit Shah also targeted Congress on the issue of illegal migration in the country.
“Whether Bangladeshi infiltrators or Rohingyas, earlier they used to enter India through Assam when Congress was in power. Now, they enter India through West Bengal, where Trinamool Congress is in power. Who issues them Aadhaar cards, citizenship?… All the Bangladeshis who have been caught have Aadhaar cards from the 24 Parganas district. You (TMC) issue Aadhaar cards and they come to Delhi with voter cards… In 2026, the BJP government will be formed in West Bengal and we will put an end to this,” he said. (ANI)
