Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], December 17 (ANI): Union Minister of Jal Shakti, CR Paatil, on Tuesday said that the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal (PKC) Link project would resolve the water issue in Rajasthan and that it would provide sufficient water for drinking, industrial use, agriculture, and livestock there.
This came following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal (PKC) inter-state river linking project between Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh earlier today.
He said that the project aims to address the water shortage faced by Rajasthan.
“The water problem that Rajasthan had been facing, this project will help fulfil the shortage of water there. Because of this they will get adequate water for drinking, industry, agriculture, and livestock. The water issue will also be resolved soon because of this project,” Paatil said.
Earlier today, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the signing of the MoU for the PKC inter-state river linking project between Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
PM Modi participated in the ‘Ek Varsh-Parinaam Utkarsh’ programme organised in Jaipur to mark the completion of one year of the BJP government in Rajasthan. During the event, the MoU for the project was signed in the presence of both state governments.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav exchanged the MoUs.
“I am happy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has scripted a new history today. An MoU has been signed for the three-river linking project of Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal (PKC) between Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, and the project has now been initiated. The project will provide drinking water as well as water for industries to eleven districts in Madhya Pradesh and several districts in Rajasthan,” CM Yadav said.
“The project will act like oxygen for Rajasthan. I thank PM Modi for making time for this initiative. Under his leadership, both state governments have worked together, and as a result, the central government is providing Rs 70,000 crore for the project,” he added.
Speaking on the ‘One Nation, One Election’ Bill, Paatil stated that the bill is essential for the country, underscoring its importance for streamlining the electoral process.
“It is necessary for the country,” the Union Minister of Jal Shakti said.
Earlier today, ‘The Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Ninth Amendment) Bill, 2024’ and ‘The Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024’ were formally introduced in the Lok Sabha after members voted on it. The bill proposes ‘One Nation, One Election,’ or simultaneous elections to both the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. The bill will now be sent to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for further deliberations.
The Speaker of the Lok Sabha announced the results of the vote on the introduction of the bill. The vote recorded 269 members in favour (Ayes) and 196 against (Noes). (ANI)
