New Delhi [India], June 13 (ANI): Congress leader Manish Tewari on Thursday condoled the demise of Indian nationals in the Kuwait fire incident and called it “extremely saddening.”
He also affirmed the hope that the matter will be investigated and appropriate action will be taken in the case.
“This is extremely sad. We have received information that the Indian government has sent a minister there and we hope that this matter will be investigated and action will be taken as soon as possible. I sympathise with the families of the 40 Indians,” Tewari posted on X.
Around 40 Indians are feared to have died in the Kuwait fire incident. Around 50 were also injured in the tragic mishap that struck the labour housing facility in the Mangaf area of Kuwait.
12 deceased have been identified from Kerala in the tragic mishap so far.
The people who have sustained injuries are admitted and treated in five government hospitals in Kuwait: Adan, Jaber, Farwaniya, Mubarak Al Kabeer, and Jahra hospitals.
Citing the hospital authorities, the MEA reported that most of the admitted patients are stable.
“The Embassy is ascertaining the full details from the concerned Kuwaiti authorities and the company. We offer our deepest condolences to the bereaved families,” the MEA said in a release on Wednesday night.
PM Modi expressed grief over the fire mishap in Kuwait City and said his thoughts are with the family and close ones of the victims of the incident.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also expressed grief over the incident and urged Foreign Minister S Jaishankar to ensure necessary arrangements for rescue operations.
The Kerala government has also announced Rs 5 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh for those injured. (ANI)
