“The Panchayat election is to be held by the first week of August because by the first week of August, the present term (of the Panchayat) will be complete. As a preparatory step, we have already finalised the list of polling stations now we have published the draft voter list. This (referring to the voter list) is going to be finalised by June 24. After that, we will take up the file with the state government because as per law Commission has to decide the date of the poll in consultation with the state government. We are proposing it (the date of the poll) in the last part of July or the first part of August. As per approval accorded by the state government, we will announce it later on,” Choudhury told ANI.
He added, “After the finalisation of the (panchayat polls) date, we will hold an election meeting with the security personnel.”
